Eastern Port Moody along the Burrard Inlet shoreline — an older, quieter residential area with waterfront park access, detached homes, and a distinctly different pace from the transit-oriented west end.

The Neighbourhood
Barnet occupies Port Moody’s eastern edge, bordered by Barnet Highway and the industrial waterfront. Schools fall within School District 43 Coquitlam, which serves all of Port Moody, and the specific elementary and secondary catchment for a given address should be confirmed via the SD43 school locator before a purchase decision.
Transit access in Barnet requires a drive or bus connection to one of Port Moody’s Evergreen Line stations — Moody Centre or Inlet Centre — before continuing toward Vancouver. Neither station is walkable from most of Barnet. Residents who commute by SkyTrain typically drive to a park-and-ride. Downtown Vancouver is approximately 35–44 minutes on the Evergreen Line, depending on the station.
Barnet is quieter and more utilitarian than Port Moody’s waterfront and station-area neighbourhoods. The industrial adjacency along the waterfront sets it apart visually and limits the pedestrian character found elsewhere in the city. That said, Barnet Marine Park provides direct waterfront access, and the neighbourhood’s eastern position means less traffic and a slower pace than the areas around Moody Centre and Newport Village. Buyers typically come for value relative to the tighter supply constraints elsewhere in Port Moody.
Housing in Barnet is predominantly older detached homes, with some newer infill on available lots. Pricing reflects the neighbourhood’s non-waterfront, non-walkable position and industrial adjacency. For buyers who want a Port Moody address and detached-home space at a lower entry point, Barnet is worth evaluating on its own terms — particularly for buyers less focused on SkyTrain proximity and more focused on space, lot size, or the proximity to Barnet Marine Park.
